One shake hand gave me a beautiful memory - Remembering Kalam Sir

What were you doing on 2nd April 2011? Does anyone remember that day? Cricket lovers will never forget this festival. Number 2011 will definitely trigger every Indian's memory of the World Cup. But that number reminds me of entirely a different story. An undreamt dream happened in my life. Where should I start with?? Hmm... Let me begin at the start of the day.

Dad woke me up as usual at around 6:30 am and I freshened up myself and took books to read after breakfast. Starting from the 9 am with a subject - king of confusion - Mathematics. Suddenly my dad reminded me, "Today we have to go to IIT Hyderabad. There will be a speech and we must attend. So finish your works before noon." Agreeing to his words, I nodded my head and continued to finish my works. Those days I was very fond of cricket so I felt that, "Why would one go to such boring speeches, and sleep there. Rather I would watch cricket staying back at home." But I can't say those words out, because dad was there.

At noon around 1pm, I had my lunch and took a small nap of 15min and then got dressed up to go to IIT Hyderabad. Sorry that I forgot to mention that in the initial days of IIT Hyderabad it was established in our estate and it was beside our school premises. So it is not too far to go there. And finally, I reached IITH at 1:40pm along with my sister. And when I reached there to my surprise I was shocked by seeing the big welcoming banners. If the welcome board had some unknown photos then I would not have dropped my lower jaw in awe, but there was a well-known photo  - the Missile man of India.

So now my excitement started to see him live. So I quickly ran inside to grab the seats in initial rows, but almost many were filled, and I was forced to take middle seats along with my sister. And after a few minutes, my whole family joined us. And slowly chaos started at the entrance gate. I thought our chief guest is going to arrive. And as expected he arrived at the venue with a calm and smiling face as he always does. After few professors of IITH had completed their addressing, Kalam sir came to the podium and adjusted his mike and started with, "I know that this is very odd timing after lunch to start but bear with me this time." Not exactly the same words, but I carried almost the same humor that Kalam sir created at that point in time.

He mentioned, "Many of your minds would go around the score of the rivalry match going on. But still, I have no other option of postponing this." And slowly he started his speech and started telling the audience about some technical stuff which was too heavy for my ears to hear those terms. Slowly I lost interest in listening to his words because it was highly technical for a 7th class kid. I was drifting into sleep suddenly Kalam sir said, "Those who are sleeping just wake up, Sri Lanka won the toss and choose to bat first." And almost many were shocked hearing those words, and within no time I lost my sleep too. But it was crazy that someone who is great and too elder than us, understood our brains perfectly.

Not once, but this happened many times in between his speech. He was like, "Oh... Sachin got out.", "Score is 130 for 2 wickets" (not exactly but I mentioned some random numbers). Those notifications were like to wake up alarms while I was drifting into my sleep. And finally, he ended his speech around 5pm. And almost the event was at the climax. So I woke up with wide eyes open to see which gate is sending-off him. And within no time I tried to push all the elders who were in my way to reach Kalam sir. As I was a kid, I somehow quickly managed to get near him but it was a bit difficult to cross his bodyguards.

That was an unforgettable memory. I felt like I was in a running race and I almost reached the deadline but there were my enemies who were obstructing me to reach the finishing line. I know it was a bit filmy but I was too young at that time, so I thought I'm a hero and I want to touch that finishing line at any cost. And the funny part was, bodyguards tried to stop me putting their hands below my head but I tried to jump over their hands and I was almost in the air flying like a superman and yes I traveled in the air for some time and pulled Kalam sir's little finger before colliding the earth.

And quickly Kalam sir turned back and lifted me up. While his guards were dragging me behind he stopped them and gave me a shaking hand with a smile. And that one moment was enough and that one smile was enough to forget my pain which caused when I hit the ground. And then he turned back and left me. I was in shock. I thought that it was a dream but no it was real. I was standing there for 2 more minutes in shock just seeing his smiling face till he got into his car.

And when I came back to my dad I didn't express this scene with excitement, in fact, I never shared this moment excitedly with anyone. But whenever I hear the name of IIT Hyderabad or 2011, they both remind me of this incident. If I hear the name of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, I don't remember his achievements, I don't remember his motivational quotes or whatever it is. I just remember this one incident in my life.

Sometimes learning things may be late but implementing them immediately will bring good results. One thing I realized lately:

"Our professional achievements will be remembered by the people who are related to our profession. But our kind actions will make us remembered by everyone."

So just keep smiling with positive energy and spread love.

I'm neither Gandhian nor anti - Gandhian (PART - 4)

I'm neither Gandhian nor anti - Gandhian (PART - 1)

I'm neither Gandhian nor anti - Gandhian (PART - 2)

I'm neither Gandhian nor anti - Gandhian (PART - 3)

Nathuram Godse... Quiet well known as a murderer of Gandhiji. But why did he kill Gandhiji? What made him hate Gandhi so much? Many people answer in many ways. In my childhood days, I wasn't so thoughtful to think about this question. But when I grew up, this puzzle came into my mind. Why did Godse kill Gandhi? I heard and read one story regarding this. Let me share that story with you.

When Gandhiji was shot by Nathuram Godse on 30 January 1948, the first big personalities who rushed the spot were Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the then prime minister of our nation, Sardar Vallabhai Patel. the then deputy prime minister of India and along with Lord Mountbatten. But suddenly from the crowd, one shouted that a Muslim shot Gandhiji. Hearing this Lord Mountbatten was surprised. and shouted no it was a Hindu who shot Gandhi. And immediately before creating any chaos and conflicts between Muslims and Hindus, Panditji quickly went on air (radio) and cleared his statement that Gandhiji was shot by a Hindu not a Muslim.

You all know the main culprit... Nathuram Godse.  Can you believe that this was his second murder attempt on Gandhiji? When did Godse attempted first happen? And do you know that many more attempts took place to assassinate him? If you are a great hater of Gandhi replace murder with the word assassinate.

Nathuram Godse, one of the great Gandhiji's follower. He showed his interest and gave his support and contributed to the Civil Disobedience Movement led by Gandhiji. Gandhiji has led many movements in support of RSS too. By seeing this the political activist... Nathuram Godse joined RSS. When he joined RSS in 1932, his mindset changed, and his opinion towards Gandhiji was entirely different compared to his previous view. In 1944, Godse carried a dagger with him at Panchgani near Pune. And it was Godse who tried to stab Gandhiji. But Manishankar Purohit and Bhillare Guruji seized the dagger from Godse and they ruined his attempt. What were his thoughts to kill Gandhiji?

When interrogation and trails were conducted regarding the assassination of Gandhiji, many were arrested. One among them was Nathuram Godse, the main lead for the well-planned assassination. When interrogated he put his statements forward. But when I read them it was not to defend himself but I felt those were the facts.

According to Godse:

  • He was not against the Gandhian teachings and non-violence but because of Gandhiji's decision many people were forced to vacate their motherland and their homes and that costed many lives and also a conflict between two religions.
  • Gandhiji told everyone to be non-violent and act peacefully. Almost everyone followed this. But he used to read the Quran in temples not Gita in a mosque because Gandhiji thought Hindus will be silent but not Muslims. Godse felt that Gandhiji was harmful to Hindus.
  • Also, Godse stated that Gandhiji's ahimsa teachings were mostly followed by Hindus, not by Muslims. So he thought that Mohandas took this advantage and started supporting Muslim culture a lot at the cost of Hindu culture.

"During that time around 1945, many Indians didn't want a separate electoral for Muslims even a few Muslims supported this but then Muslim leader Jinnah wanted a separate electoral for Muslims. This was before partition when Lord Mountbatten the last Viceroy of India was smoothly handling the transfer of governance from Britishers to our Indian leaders. Lord Mountbatten too didn't want to divide them. But Muslims protested a lot with the support of Gandhi."

  • When I started to learn about Godse's vision, I was surprised that he was very practical enough and he dared to accept the truth that he murdered. He said that he had no faith in Gandhiji because Gandhiji pressurized the Indian government to transfer the money to the Pakistan government which was held due to the Kashmir war at that time. And Godse stated that our Indian government without Gandhi would be practical and be strong and courageous with the sound armory and armed forces. If not with his words, Gandhiji would have definitely supported Jinnah and might have ruined our Indian economy.

What do you think about Godse's vision? Is it good or bad? In this world, everyone needs peace which doesn't mean one should tolerate violence even he is doing wrong, that what our armed forces are working for. We don't indulge in any war or surgical strikes until someone disturbs our calmness. I agree we shouldn't start the war, but if it starts we shouldn't let the bad win on us.

Whatever it is, if you are a Gandhi follower, then spread the peace wherever you go. If you are a Gandhi hater, then let your hatred ness go away because he is no more, and also we can't undo his acts now. But one question still unanswered in my mind is,

"Why only Gandhi Jayanthi is a national holiday? Why do people give all the credits of our independent nation only to him? Don't you think that this is unfair?"

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Remember, I'm neither Gandhian nor anti-Gandhian ... I'm just Mouli... Mouli Bheemaneti.

I'm neither Gandhian nor anti - Gandhian (PART - 3)

I'm neither Gandhian nor anti - Gandhian (PART - 1)

I'm neither Gandhian nor anti - Gandhian (PART - 2)

In my point of view, Gandhiji's movement took place at the right time when Britishers got economically weak. But it is unfair to say that Gandhiji is known as "The father of the nation" just because he only got us freedom. It was just a matter of timing which I guess even Gandhiji might haven't dreamt about. And as I mentioned in my I'm neither Gandhian nor anti - Gandhian (PART - 2) the intention of the movement was to get our Indians back out of the war.

What if World war 2 didn't take place? Could we get Independence only with non-violence as Gandhiji said? Did anyone think how could non-violence bring us freedom? We can, it's not exactly the non-violence it's all about patience. Just let's roll back and see how patient Gandhiji was. He first faced discrimination later on he started to boycott foreign goods. Let's wait for some time at this incident and let me tell you what I observed.

Gandhiji first gained popularity in the small community where he lives. And he didn't go against the rulers alone, instead, he first managed to gather the people and slowly motivated them such that they never got de-motivated again. And his calm nature attracted the people towards him. Not only his calm nature but also his love for the animals mesmerize others. As a non-alcoholic and a pure vegetarian, he first demonstrated how we are getting addicted to western culture. And automatically their inner soul got realized that we don't have the freedom and instead we are addicted to their culture leaving ours behind.

He was an eye-opener for many protesters and converted them into non-violence too. See how planned he was, step by step, taking a mass population towards his side and making an army to fight against Britishers non-violently. In fact, have you ever tried smiling? Did you ever feel like smiling lets my stress go away? I did it, and it worked.

Gandhiji was strong enough mentally. He is a spiritual and well-planned man. He boycotted foreign dresses and started khadi, handmade dresses. Not only foreign dresses but goods too. He encouraged everyone to do the same. He lived a simple life. He reads the Quran and Gita too.

If world war 1 didn't take place then it was absolutely Britishers who would rule us still. Even Gandhiji could not win us freedom. And Britishers would have full control over us and they could suppress freedom movements which might have taken place. And in 1947 Gandhiji was 78 and was getting old enough to take part in movements. Then how could he have brought us freedom?

I agree he is a good person but it doesn't mean that all the credit of freedom struggle goes to Gandhi. Everyone loves him. Everyone supports him, but why would someone think of killing him? What is the motive behind his assassination?

I write what is in my head, not to hurt anyone.

I'm neither Gandhian nor anti - Gandhian, just mouli... Mouli Bheemaneti

Accidental Achievement

I don't remember exactly what is the first chapter which I experienced in my life. But one concept or lesson got stuck in my brain since...
